Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
The lab will allow students to analyse and develop modeling approaches and apply them to simulation tools for a variety of nanodevices. This will nicely complement what they have learned in the Nanoelectronics and Nanotechnology courses.
In the praktikum the students will be developing theoretical models for the description of nano-sized structures, study the effects of contacts to nanostructures, simulate the interaction of an electromagnetic field with nanostructures, analyze the optical properties of nanopatterned interfaces. In addition the design of novel architectures for nanodevices will be dealt with. The labs will be based on commercial software tools as well as on models and simulations developed by the students.
